The competency of social and cross-cultural skills truly highlights diversity and inclusion in organizations. These skills really focus on representation across a variety of spectrums. More important this skill requires a leader that is able to understand and is open to different cultures, lifestyles and sentiment. An effective leader yet continues to prioritize the purpose or goal of a project.
As our workforce continues to grow, we are beginning to see what are the most diverse teams to date. Being a person of color myself, I tend to lean on this skill even more so. Often times, leaders struggle with this competency more do to uncomfortably and sensitive of the subject. This skill is my stronghold as I purposely look for diversity team members.

Module 4: Paper
OGL 350: Diversity and Organizations in ASU really impacted me as a leader. I found myself very passionate about the subject matter and utilized my own identity and real-life experience to promote my leadership style and mindset of the matter. The artifact I have provided is a written assignment that focused on interviewing someone who identifies themself belonging to a culture or ethnicity that is significantly different than my own. This activity, especially, allowed me to be mindful and aware that just because I identified as diverse, down not mean they are shared by others who also identify themselves as diverse.

Reflection
I strongly believe that now more than ever that social and cross-culturals skill are very important to lead a team or organization. The era that we are currently in both globally and nationally has definitely focused the importance of diversity and inclusion in organizations. Organizations need to be aware of who their team is more individually to support this competencies. The Organizational Leadership program supported this skill throughout my entire journey.
As a leader who identifies as a person of color, I find this skill very easy to comprehend and navigate. I tend to find myself supporting other through what may seem uncomfortable or vulnerable dialogue in an effort to support diversity, especially more. As a leader, this is an important skill to own as it progresses new ideas and perspectives that others may not have understood before or considered.
